MN Unemployment – Your Online Guide

Minnesota Unemployment Resources – Career Centers and Libraries

Libraries are a great, free information source for almost anything, including a wide variety of information to help those unemployed in Minnesota.  Almost all state counties (and many large cities) in Minnesota operate a library system that are available to the public for free.  Also, public and private colleges and universities also typically have libraries, though access to some of these may be limited to current students, staff an alumni.

As libraries are one of the traditional sources of job, employment, and career information, they often have many established resources, tools, links, and information available – much of it now accessible online.  Additionally, many times the staff at these libraries are available if you need assistance and are accustomed to helping individuals looking for work.

Most colleges and universities will usually have Career Centers available to help their students and alumni in finding jobs or in selecting careers.  Often, this information (or parts of it) is also available online to the general public (though, again, some may be unavailable to non-students or alumni).

As one of the goals of these organizations is to prepare their students for life after school, the can have comprehensive and easy-to-use websites.  Many have online guides and information on writing resumes, interviewing, career exploration, and job searches.
